HMRC Plan Another Attack on Restaurants and Hotels

HMRC is planning a further attack on restaurants, hotels and caterers who they believe are avoiding up to £1billion per year in VAT.

HMRC have previously messed up what was known as "Operation Gourmet", which tried to collect unpaid national insurance contributions on waiters' tips.

We will have to wait to see how they intend to attack this area. The industry is not happy about this and believe the Government should be investing in them rather than attacking them.
